One evening in the spring of 1781, William Herschel, a professional musician living in Bath, England, looked through his homemade telescope and saw what he thought must be a comet. In fact, it was the planet Uranus — the first planet ever discovered by an individual in human history. But this remarkable observation, which catapulted Herschel almost overnight into the ranks of the most accomplished and celebrated astronomers in the world, was by no means his biggest achievement.

From Dave Hokenberry:

I am the program director for Chester County Astronomical Society. We are bringing "Uncle Rod" Mollise into town March 9th to speak, and we wanted to get the word out to anybody in the area who might be interested in hearing him speak on the Past, Present, and Future of the SCT. He hosts Uncle Rod's Astro Blog and the Meade Uncensored site on Yahoo, and is an entertaining author and speaker. Please circulate this to your membership - admission if free, of course! Any questions please contact me at the e-mail above.
