LEDs are so easy to work with, and so small, that you can make almost any kind of light that is convenient for you. The first picture illustrates two I built for myself - a bar for reading charts, and a pocket light designed to use anywhere.
Other possibilities include:
- Mounted in an eyepiece case
- On the feet or sides of your scope (to mark where they are so you don't crash into them in the dark)
- Clipped to a baseball cap (to point light where you're looking)
- In the interior of your car so you can find things in your car without turning on the the "real" interior lights
